Early 1950s Vincent leaves military and begins working at Covino Brothers Slate. Early 1950s, half share of Covino Brothers sold to Tatko's (became Hilltop Slate). 1960s remainder share sold to Tatko's and Covinos left to run Rising and Nelson's operations. Early 1970s, Rising and Nelson ceases pit operations. Covinos return to Rt 149 farm and start Whispering Pines Slate. Produced mottles purple and some sea green slate. In and out of operation until Vince's death in 1991. |

Detonator has a wooden push handle and a leather carrying handle. Detonator cap looks like a .22 shell with two wires hooked to the detonator and forms a current that blows cap.

Ross Forklift was used by the Covino Bros. Construction company in the 1950's. The forklift and pallet inventions were some of the most important to the slate industry because they allowed slate to be transported faster and more efficiently.

Black Can held black powder for blasting slate rock - 4" hole on top. Lettering embossed on bottom of can: "Manufactured by E.I. DuPont DENEMOURS & Co, Inc. Wilmington Del USA Explosive Dangerous."
